We have an awesome prompt about how to make ChatGPT recommend books that resonate with you. I’ll also share ideas to improve this prompt and others you write to ensure you’re getting the best responses from ChatGPT.

Additionally, I’ll share a prompt to help ChatGPT work with you to create a personalized planner for reflecting on the past year and setting goals for the new one. I’ve even created a planner template using this process, which I’ll share with you.

ChatGPT for Book Recommendations

The prompt I’m sharing is from Reddit, titled Which Three Books Should You Read According to ChatGPT Based on What It Knows About You? Created by Think Mario, this prompt helps uncover three transformative books tailored to your life. Here’s the prompt:
“Based on what you know about me and only what you can infer, suggest three books I probably don’t know but that will deeply resonate with me. Each book should align with a core aspect of my life: one to challenge and stimulate my intellect, another to nourish my moral or spiritual side, and the third to inspire or complement my passions. Instead of explaining why you choose them, provide a short synopsis for each book, like a movie description. Include a direct quote from each book to hook me and reflect its essence.”
I tried this prompt and found it fascinating. Two of the books recommended were ones I’d already read, and one was completely new and aligned with my interests. To improve prompts like this, add a follow-up question: “Do you require further information to carry out this task?” This allows ChatGPT to ask clarifying questions, yielding more specific and tailored responses. Another variation could be asking ChatGPT for book suggestions that offer differing perspectives or challenge your typical reading preferences. This is a great way to expand your horizons.

DIY Personalized Planner with ChatGPT

As we reflect on the past year and plan for the next, I created a prompt to guide ChatGPT in helping you design a personalized planner. Here’s the prompt:
  “I want to create a personalized planner that aligns with my goals, energy, and the way I like to work.

  Please guide me through this process step-by-step:
  1. Reflection Questions: Help me reflect on my experiences, goals, and the energy I want to bring into my life in the next year.
  2. Vision and Style: Based on my answers, help me clarify what kind of planner style would work best for me (e.g., goal-focused, creative and fluid, minimalist, etc.).
  3. Planner Layout Suggestions: Provide me with specific sections, prompts, or ideas that would fit my needs.
  4. Creative Tips: Offer tips for how I can design or build this planner using tools like Canva, a physical notebook, or other methods.

  Let’s start with the reflection phase. Ask me the key questions to help me clarify my vision for the year ahead.”

Using this, ChatGPT helped me create a planner template called The Next Right Step: A Journey in Flow. It includes sections for affirmations, budgeting, monthly planning, reflections, and more, all designed to resonate with my mindset and goals.
